News from Easton on the Hill Parish Council

New Councillors co-opted
The Parish Council is delighted to announce they have co-opted two new councillors. They are Dave Bradberry (who has lived in the village for around 60 years) and Richard Whileman (who has lived here for about a year) and both will offer useful skills and enthusiasm to improve the community and make decisions for the future development and maintenance of the village. We welcome both Dave and Richard and look forward to working with them.

Park Runs
We’re listening to ideas that encourage more village use of the Playing Fields and facilities, and to that end, is there anyone out there who would like to co-ordinate a regular park run type of event? If you would be interested in doing the park run, but not organising it, please get in touch too. Please contact one of the Parish Councillors or email the Clerk on clerk@eastononthehill-pc.gov.uk if you could organise this or be on a rota to organise it maybe.

Nature Recovery Grant
The Parish Council has been working with Rockingham Forest Vision for many months now and have jointly developed a Nature Recovery Plan for the green areas managed by the Parish Council. This plan will introduce better grassland scrub habitats that will benefit wildlife, support specific bird species and improve and enhance biodiversity. It will also improve access and amenity of these areas for villagers. Rockingham Forest helped the Parish Council to obtain a grant from the National Heritage Lottery Fund and Rural Community Capital Funding who have kindly supported the project with a grant of £4184. This will be used to purchase more trees, hedging, wildflower seeds, various nesting boxes, plus tools to bring the plans to fruition.

Community Speedwatch (CSW)
If you are interested in becoming a CSW volunteer to help reduce and monitor the speed of the traffic in the village, please get in touch. Details below. This is a very worthy scheme and helps dramatically in reducing speeds of some vehicles.

Remembrance Day
The Parish Council has acquired a new flag pole which we will site in Millennium Garden (corner of High Street and West St) - so look out for the flying of a new Remembrance flag to remember all those who served, and continue to serve, our country, in the Great Wars and all wars. The traditional Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial will take place at 10.30 on Sunday 10th November, with the 2 minutes silence at 11.00. After the service everyone is welcome to join a small group at the Polish Memorial in Spring Close, where we will be burying a Time Capsule as a final step in completing this much admired and respected memorial.

Winter Warmers
The Parish Council has donated funds towards this worthy community event starting on 4/11 in the village hall - an opportunity for residents to come along to a warm, safe place for a cuppa, soup, cake and a chat.
